The Independent Christian Church is a loose body of churches arising from the Restoration Movement of the early 19th century. Its goal was to restore Biblical authority and New Testament Christianity while avoiding "extra-biblical creeds" including scriptural interpretation and the emphasis on fellowship tests, according to the church's : Jocelyn Mackie.

The churches are independent congregations and typically go by the name "Christian Church", but often use the name "church of Christ" as well. Though isolated exceptions may occur, it is generally agreed within the movement that no personal or family names should be attached to a congregation which Christ purchased and established with his own blood, though geographical labels are fication: Christian, Restoration Movement.

Katherine Chidley (fl. –) was an English Puritan activist and controversialist. Initially involved in resistance to episcopal authority and in separatist activity in Shrewsbury and London, she emerged during the English Civil War as a powerful advocate of an Independent or Congregationalist the Commonwealth of England and the Protectorate she was a leader of Leveller Political party: Levellers.
